The importance of Blogging for your business
Working with clients, I have seen the reluctance to commit to regular blogging for their businesses. This reluctance is a shame indeed. I have also seen clients who embrace blogging, and the results are staggering. I recommend that you embrace the importance of Blogging for your business, and here is how.
Let’s take a look at five reasons to blog and three challenges.
1. The first reason to commit to a regular blog for your business is to drive traffic to your website.
You have spent good money to create a website, but what good is it if no one will see it. Relying on SEO to drive traffic to your website is a golf swing with no follow-through. By the clever use of a blog combined with social media, email lists, and participating in groups, you will get more eyes on your message, and isn’t that what you want?
2. Blogging is one of the best things you can do to improve your Search Engine Optimization or SEO.
Using the right keywords in your blog will significantly improve your SEO. Keywords give the search engine just what they are searching for and allow them to categorize your website correctly. Again, being visible with your message will get your message seen.
3. Emerging as an industry leader.
By showing your audience that you know your industry, you build trust. This trust will turn into new customers. I have seen this many times.
Building trust means that you will have to provide a quality blog staying on top of all the nuances and changes of your industry, but you do that already. I have found that writing about what I do does make me better.
4. Grow your social media presence.
In today’s world, a large part of marketing, Like it or not, is done on social media. A steady stream of blogs will give you content that you can take to your social media streams, building that audience that turns into customers.
5. Consistent blogging drives long-term results.
Being in it for the long run will serve you well when getting the results you are looking for from your blog. It takes time and a consistent effort to get your message noticed and to achieve the brand recognition you desire.
I have touched on some but not all of the reasons to commit to a consistent blog. Each of the reasons I have talked about could be a blog in itself.
Now let’s look at some of the Challenges to Blogging for your Business.
1. Finding the perfect niche and getting started
You may ask yourself, “What do I have to say”?
Well, when it comes to your business, I am sure there is quite a lot. Start by talking about what you know. You can also discuss how you have helped customers and clients to overcome their challenges.
2. Coming up with Engaging Content on a regular basis
Finding motivation is a challenge for every creator, and being a blogger is being a creator. So finding content has been a challenge for me. So what I am doing to help is brainstorming and listing as many ideas as possible for subjects, and when it is time to create, go to the list and find one that feels right at the time.
Reading other blogs can be very motivating as well. For example, find a few blogs to read that you like the style or the subjects to spark your motivation and creativity.
3. Motivations to Maintain Your Blog
Motivation for many is the most formidable challenge of all. Finding the time to create is where that dedication to the long-term goals comes in. As they say, “Keep your eyes on the prize.”
For me, even more than finding the time, the challenge of putting myself out there for others to see has been challenging to overcome.
In conclusion, blogging is indeed time-consuming and challenging, but the rewards far outweigh the costs.
